Click here to submit an online cat or dog application to apply to adopt or foster. Once your application is received an adoption counselor or foster will contact you usually within 1-3 business days.

Adoption Events are at Petco Greece (2373 Ridge Rd West, Roch 14626):

  • Thursdays 6pm-8pm
  • Saturdays 11am-3pm
  • Last Sunday of each month 11am-3pm

We try to have as many cats and dogs at the adoption event as possible and post who will be there on facebook. You do not need to fill out an application to come see a cat or dog that is already scheduled to be at the adoption event. If you are unable to attend the event or the cat or dog is not at Petco then an application is required prior to setting up a meet and greet.

Cat adoptions:

  • Kittens six months and younger $135 for one kitten, $235 for two kittens
  • Cats over 6 months $100
  • Seniors 8 years and older $50
  • Resident cats and dogs are required to have yearly check ups and required vaccinations in order to be approved to adopt a cat.
  • Resident cats and dogs are required to be spayed/neutered unless your vet has advised not to based on a medical reason.

Note: kittens adopted between 8 and 12 weeks of age require an additional $50 deposit. This is refunded once proof of 2nd round of shots (distemper booster & rabies) is provided. We must do this because we have to document that all adopted cats received their rabies vaccination which is not normally done until 12 weeks of age.

All cats are combo-tested for FIV and Feline Leukemia, receive all age-appropriate vaccinations and are altered.

Dog adoptions:

  • Dog adoption fee varies and is listed in each bio.
  • Invisible fencing is not allowed under any circumstance.
  • Physical fencing required when adding a third dog or more.
  • Adding a second dog without having a fence is at the discretion of the dog coordinator.
  • If a dog's bio clearly states a fence is needed, then a fence is required regardless of how many dogs are in the home.
  • Other forms of containment will be considered case by case and require the approval of the dog coordinator.
  • Resident cats and dogs are required to have yearly check ups and required vaccinations in order to be approved to adopt a dog.
  • Resident cats and dogs are required to be spayed/neutered unless your vet has advised not to based on a medical reason.

Adoption fees help offset some of the expenses incurred, since all of G.R.A.S.P.'s animals are examined by a local vet, receive all age-appropriate vaccinations and are spayed/neutered.

Please be aware that we are not able to adopt to anyone living more than one hour away from Rochester, NY. Some of these fur children came from bad situations and to be sure that they are in the right environment, home visits are necessary.

Adopting a pet is a lifelong commitment and should be entered into as such.

Future expenses for cats and dogs should be carefully taken into consideration.

G.R.A.S.P. reserves the right to approve or deny any application.
